International Olympiad in the Russian and English Languages for undergraduate students from neighbouring and distant countries
The annual International Olympiad in the Russian and English Languages for undergraduate students from neighbouring and distant countries is organized by the Institute of the Russian Language at Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistics University named after N.A. Dobrolyubov. The competition is aimed at supporting talented young people from universities in neighbouring and distant countries, promote scientific knowledge and advance the Russian language abroad. Winners and runners-up of the Olympiad are granted the opportunity to enroll on program 45.04.01 Philology specializing in Russian as a Foreign Language within the Russian Government's quota for the education of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Russian Federation.
Traditionally, the competition is held in two stages. The qualifying round of the Olympiad is held in person at Denov Institute of Entrepreneurship and Pedagogy (Republic of Uzbekistan). The qualifying round may be hosted at other partner universities of LUNN and in 2026 the Olympiad's partners also included Termez University of Economics and Service (Republic of Uzbekistan), Khorog State University (Republic of Tajikistan), and East Kazakhstan University (Republic of Kazakhstan).
The final round of the Olympiad is held remotely on the LUNN platform.
In 2026 the competition was organized with the information support of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative offices in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2027, the qualifying round of the Olympiad will be held on February 8, 2027 and the final round will be held on March 8, 2027. Applications for participation in the Olympiad are submitted by registering and completing the participant form which will become available from December 1, 2026 to February 1, 2027 at https://forms.yandex.ru/u/6a0ec41495add58937dbc8f9
