Why should we learn Croatian?
In 2016 the Linguistic University of Nizhny Novgorod and the University of Zadar signed a cooperation agreement. Zadar is the ex-capital of Dalmatia and one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic Sea. The University itself is located at the seaside and it is the Center of studying Croatian and Russian.
The "Zadar Philology Days VIII" international conference was held on November, 6-9 of 2019 and it gathered Slavists from Serbia, Poland, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Russia. Cooperation with Zadar has become a good tradition for LUNN.
There is a program of academic and faculty mobility between the universities. This year the University of Zadar supported by the LUNN Chair of Russian Philology, Foreign Literature and Cross-Cultural Communication won the 1st place in the "My Country - My Russia" competition in the category "Sister Cities". The award-winning project is called "Zadar - Nizhny Novgorod. Cities' Friendship" and it will allow to strengthen the cooperation between the universities.
Hosting a conference in Croatia is on the agenda of the LUNN and it will be an important contribution to the celebration of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod.
